Waxing Tips
Pre-Wax Tips
- Exfoliate the day before you wax. This will remove any dead skin that may be trapping your hair, making it easier to remove.
- Moisturize your skin the day before you wax. Coconut oil is a great moisturizer!
- You may want to take an over the counter pain medicine 30 minutes prior to the wax. This will help take the edge off. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, or are on any prescription meds.
- Avoid coffee and alcohol 3 hours before your wax. The high acidity levels make your skin more sensitive.
- Your hair MUST be 1/4" in length (about the length of a grain of rice). Anything shorter will just pull and not come out, causing undue pain. please allow 2 weeks after shaving, and 4-6 weeks between waxes.
- Don't worry about trimming! If anything needs to be trimmed, I can take care of that during the service.
Post Wax Tips
- Wear loose fitting clothing. You skin will be slightly red and sensitive post-wax
- avoid physical activity for 24 hours. Sweat may sting you open follicles.
- avoid swimming pools and hot tubs for 24 hours.
- Avoid direct exposure to sun light or tanning beds for 24 hours. If you must be out in the sun, wear sunscreen! your skin is more likely to burn in the 24 hours after a waxing.
- after 24 hours, exfoliate and moisturize daily. This will help reduce ingrown hairs.
- After being waxed you will have a smooth wax for about 2 weeks before the hair starts to grow back. It does take 3 consecutive waxes spaced 4-6 weeks apart to get the hair on the same growth cycle. Once that happens, you will get the smoothest wax possible. unlike shaving, the hair will grow back in soft, as it is pulled from the root and not cut blunt at the skin.
- Try to resist tweezing or shaving in between waxes, as doing so will keep your hair on different growth cycles.
